About this deal

The back cover features the back of Patrick's head, behind which he has thoughtfully hidden a hatchet.

The scene in the bathroom where they're trying to do coke that's been mixed with sweetener is a great highlight of the activity in the room. Real quick before I dive in, I'll just tell you that the blu-ray disc included in the 2018 combo-pack is actually the 2007 disc. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. For those needing a plot summary, I refer you to my colleague Martin Liebman's American Psycho Blu-ray review of the original Blu-ray release. It’s the first person point of view journey that we take with this character that makes the violent ride so satisfying.

It also has a video of the film premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, but it's very brief with no real substance. Outside of my three lives I live I also enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and our three girls (of the furry kind). I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. The UHD of American Psycho feels like a veil of DVD-era digital tools has been lifted off the movie. It was co-written and directed by Mary Harron, based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel of the same name.

DISCLAIMER: This 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review was judged and graded using the following 4K certified Ultra HD Premium television set found here and player here. Truth be told I would have been happy with a nice lossless mix, but I really appreciate that Lionsgate went the extra mile. Of course, what makes the piece so memorable is Christian Bale's early, fabulous performance as Bateman and also Harron's script, which generates some strangely hilarious moments, often courtesy of timely misunderstandings and mistaken identities, and defines its character often through superb monologues on 80s music. I honestly could not envision DiCaprio the way Bale owned the role of Bateman and what he brought to not only the psychosis of the character, but its physicality too.

Mary Harron managed to craft a solid and entertaining film from the particularly difficult Bret Easton Ellis source novel while Christian Bale goes full out in a terrific performance that should have gotten him a lot more attention in its day. It originally came out as a new release in 2000, right after its theatrical run, in both R and unrated editions.Details are immaculate, allowing you to fully appreciate the sterile soulless life Patrick has built for himself. I dutifully stood in line opening night, plunked down my hard-earned cash from my part-time job, and sat in a darkened theater expecting to be amazed.

Meanbwhile, Harron's track is unique in that she admits upfront that at the time of the commentary's recording, she hadn't seen the film in many years. However, one of the most striking depth of field moments has to be where the guys are measuring business cards and even the bone white card with Cillian Brail print jumps off the screen. The first sign of trouble appears right during the opening credits over a set of impeccable white silk cloth, where a bit of speckling and pronounced grain are immediately evident. For a film so concerned with perfection, it's the closest it will likely ever get to it here, boasting striking details on close-ups, which involve fine observation of skin textures, hair, beads of sweat and clothing weaves.
