Not my signature fragrance because I prefer my perfume to not have any sweet/vanilla scent to it, but I still love Hugo Deep Red regardless. It smells much better on skin than a spray in the cap because the dry down is so much better than the opening. I hardly ever wear V because it's hard to find and expensive now so I'm happy that I can merrily spray away when I feel like its not the time for V. Based on the pyramid it looks like a fresh fruity fragrance but on my skin it's just straight up white florals on a woody base.

I don't enjoy ginger in perfumery at the best of times and this turned out to be a rather thin, uninspiring composition to my nose. Once the initial freshness fades the fruitiness starts to come in, I definitely smell citrus and also the ginger.I work in a hospital and this week i entered a patient‘s room and the entire room smelled like soft spicy white flowers. This is honestly what I thought Dior's Hypnotic Poison would smell like: murky, dark, and seductive in all of this almost red wine like smell.

It may seem a little outdated by today's standards but i think it is just a more "in your face" kind of sultry and naughty scent. How am I supposed to conquer the world, when I have to spend half my time respraying this weak dilution to try and get a hint of a sillage? It is the eau de parfum that fragrance lovers across the world want to have as part of their collection. I was 16 and getting ready to go clubbing when my friend nicked a few sprays of her mums perfume before we left the house.

I used to get a lot of celebrity flankers as gifts from friends and family in my teen and late teen.

I think this fragrance is totally unisex,I can imagine a young guy in his 20s walking past women and turning their heads.Super weak though :( I used at least 5-6 sprays (usually never go over 3-4 for any perfume) and I can barely smell it at all, though I do have a slight cold so I'm sure that's affecting it. It starts with the blood orange, ginger and liqueur and dries down with a sweet ginger liqueur and floral scent with a distinctly unique sillage that definitely is only Hugo Deep Red. It reminds me of a Christmas type smell like Christmas pot pourri or the smell of Christmas Eve when everyone has their mulled wine out ( I think that's the ginger and orange). I think this is suitable for all year round wear and would make anyone feel especially wonderful when wearing it. I had this around the time it came out but gave it to a friend, whom it suited perfectly at the time.
